Gift breakfasts in Suba: the morning Grandma Rosa smiled again
Laura couldn't travel to Bogotá, but she found a way to have breakfast with her grandmother without leaving her desk.
Rosa is 81, lives alone in Suba and says mornings have felt "too long" since she was widowed. Her granddaughter Laura, who works in Medellín, called every Sunday, but a call no longer felt like enough.
One Thursday Laura searched for "gift breakfasts in Bogotá" and five minutes later she was ordering on WhatsApp: fruit, artisan bread, hot chocolate and a card that read "Grandma, today we have breakfast together. I love you".
“"I hadn't opened the door with a smile in months," Rosa told her on a video call, card still in hand.”
